July 17, 2024

ABINGDON, Virg., July 16, 2024 - On Tuesday, July 16th, between the hours of 2 - 3 am, First Bank and Trust Company’s ATMs at our offices located in Bristol, Kingsport, and Gray, Tennessee, were the target of a sophisticated ATM theft attack.

First Bank and Trust Company personnel are actively working with law enforcement to investigate the incident and collect the necessary evidence. As a result, the information we can provide to the public at this time is limited.

ATMs at our Bristol, Kingsport, and Gray, Tennessee offices may be temporarily unavailable for an undefined period as police conduct a thorough investigation. Customers can make withdrawals by visiting our drive-thru or lobby or by utilizing a surcharge-free Allpoint ATM nearby. To locate an Allpoint ATM, visit www.allpointnetwork.com/locator or open the First Bank and Trust Company mobile banking app and select the Support tab from the main menu.

The safety of our employees is of paramount importance to our Bank. This incident occurred outside of operating hours, and no employees were impacted. Out of an abundance of caution, we are implementing additional security measures to ensure the ongoing safety of our employees during ATM checks and monitoring throughout this active investigation.

We want to reassure our customers and the public that this incident did not result in unauthorized access to customer information or finances.
